Why Skills Are Not Enough

Skills are measurable and often straightforward to assess. However, they provide an incomplete picture because:

Context Matters: The same skill can be applied differently depending on the job. For example, problem-solving in a fast-paced startup looks very different from problem-solving in a regulated corporate environment. 

Behavior Shapes Execution: A skilled coder who thrives on structure may struggle in a role that demands rapid, iterative experimentation, even though their technical ability is sound. 

Static vs. Dynamic: Skills assessments provide a snapshot in time, but behavior reflects how someone will adapt, learn, and grow in response to the demands of the role.


Understanding behavioral fit increases accuracy of talent decisions.
